Review of Aqua
by soccermom713

This is a Las Vegas branch of a San Francisco restaurant. We ate here on our wedding anniversary, and I will tell you right now we spent a bundle ($200+). Was it worth it? Absolutely! Aqua is simply elegant and sophisticated, but comfortable as well. The menu is all seafood, and the wine list is extensive. As it should be at a restaurant of this caliber, the service was impeccable.

I had Dover sole and my husband had salmon. All of it was beautifully presented (the salmon, with three different sauces, was a work of art) and perfectly cooked. The real to-die-for moment, though, was dessert. We had seen the couple next to us enjoy this (and they had ordered it because the people next to them had enjoyed it) -- a sampler of chocolate desserts. From an incredible warm chocolate banana cake to a Jack Daniels laced, molten-center concoction, it was all delicious enough to make your eyes roll back in your head! If you are looking for a special-occasion meal in Las Vegas, this is it!

(We were able to make an 8pm reservation at  5pm the same day, but keep in mind we were there in early May.)

Celebrations in 808 - Las Vegas
Celebration of my Big Win!

Review 808
by Rainbowwings

It was a super celebration night after my jackpot win and Im so glad we chose the 808. From entering in this beautifully decorated restaurant with subtle lighting and a great ambiance right down to the tasteful tableware, I would recommend this to anyone who appreciates really fine cuisine. Hawaiian fusion with a twist and absolutely fabulous. The downfall if there is one is that its quite expensive, but it was worth every cent for me. A good selection of wine, great staff who really couldnt do enough for us without being pushy and an amazing menu, all make for a special night out.

I had the 808 New Wave Bento as an appetizer which blew me away just by looking at it let alone the flavors. An assortment of the restaurants starters brought to the table in an upright wooden box with 6 compartments each holding a small glass plate and a different delicacy on each plate, such as a crab wanton, 2 sushi, a minute mold of jasmine rice with chopped shrimp, mango, coriander etc.etc I followed all this with the Lobster stir fry which I would honestly kill for to have again. Family had crab cakes like they´ve never had before, scallops and lamb and all agreed it was the best meal of the holiday.

They have this amazing looking wine 'cellar' which is essentially a clear, glass tower that extends about 5 stories from the ground! There are ropes all around this case so that the staff can repel up and down to get the specific bottle they need.

Expect to spend about US$250 for dinner for two, including wine. They have a fixed price tasting menu starting at about US$95/person that includes the 1st course, 2nd course, and dessert.

Both the duck and ahi appetizers are excellent! I had the Atlantic salmon as my second course and it was just as delicious as the first courses! The wine list is quite exhaustive so you can find wine that will please even the pickiest wine connoisseur!
